What is a canelé?
A canelé is a baked custard pastry that has a soft centre and a thick, dark caramelised crust. Typically it is made with rum and vanilla. It is a specialty from the Bordeaux region of France and technically, the spelling of canelé only pertains to this region. Anything produced outside this region is cannelé.

How long do canelés last?
A canelé is best enjoyed on the day it is made. That is when you get the best contrast between the crisp, caramalised crust and soft middle. However, some people find this texture too crispy and prefer to wait a day until the canelé is more soft. They will last for 5 days in the fridge.

How should I store my canelés?
Leave them at room temperature, in the box provided, on the day of delivery. If not consumed on this day, move them to an airtight container and store them in the fridge. Let the canelés come to room temperature before eating again.

How should I store my cake?
If consuming the day of pickup, within 4 hours, leave at room temperature in a cool spot out of direct sunlight. If consuming the next day or its a very hot day, leave in the fridge, in the box if possible, and take out 2-4 hours prior to eating. 

Can you make a vegan canele/cake/product?
Unfortunately, no.

Do you do vegan or gluten free cakes?
We don't offer vegan cakes, but some of our products are flourless or gluten friendly and will be listed as such. As we bake in a kitchen that uses gluten products, we cannot however guarantee the complete absence of gluten.

How do I place an order?
Via our secure online shop at anytime with a credit card/ debit card payment. Just choose your product and flavours and we'll look after the rest. You will receive an email confirmation once your order has been accepted.  Click here to get started.

How quickly can I get my order? Do I really need to wait 72 hours?
Unfortunately in most cases, there will be a 72 hour leadtime but if you are in a rush, please email us, as there may be a chance we may be able to work something out.

Can I change my order once its been placed?
Yes. We can change any order with 3 days of its collection date. Just email us with your order confirmation number and what you would like to change. 

Can I cancel my order?
Yes. We offer a refund if you need to cancel your order with 3 days of its collection date, however there is a 15% processing order fee that will not be refunded.

Can you do cake flavours that aren’t listed in your shop?
At the moment - we are at capacity with what we offer. Although you can email hello@bellatortie.com and we can see if we can help.

Whats the best way to transport my canelés or cake if I've picked them up from you?
We suggest placing the cake box on the floor of your car with the air conditioning on as this is the flattest and most stable part. Try to avoid putting your cake or canelés on the seat of the car as they are on an angle and can possibly collapse or fall over. 

Do you do deliveries to venues? Homes? Workplaces?
Unfortunately no. Due to being too busy at the shop and third party couriers delivering late or not taking enough care with orders, we no longer offer this service. We apologise for any inconvenience.
